I live on Red Cloud and find that a large number of cars travel the street well in excess of the speed limit. With all the kids in the neighborhood I find this very dangerous. Does anyone have suggestions on what can be done to identify the offenders and/or get signs posted asking motorists to obey the speed limit?

suggestion to speeding cars
Marty,
I live just north of the intersection of 17th and Lashley on Lashley st.
As you can imagine, the entrance to the neighborhood is very busy. I hate speed bumps, but I would like rumble strips and signs- slow kids at play. I haven't noticed any signs to slow for children. I have no idea if the city would be interested in applying rumble strips or signs at key areas or if that would be effective. This might be something you could follow up with Ward 1 rep Doug Brown. (FYI rumble strips are the fine lines put into pavement that vibrate your car when you drive on them.)

Speeding Cars
Marty-
I completly agree. With me and my frinds outside playing we always have to YELL slow down. I have noticed that they are all teenagers and are probably showing off there cars. We should either get speed limits at the end of the street or at least get "Children Playing, Slow Down"!! signs at each end of the sreets here in Stoney Ridge.
Thanx,
Kristi
