a fancy mail system, but this does offer a very convenient and direct method of

communication.



Of special interest is the recent improvement in service at the Ward Road park-n-Ride, used by residents of your area. Just before the Christmas vacation period, we added an extra A.M. "tripper" bus to help with the fast-growing ridership on Rte 72X - Ward Road

Express. This was done on an emergency basis, and was dropped for the holiday period when ridership declines.



The tripper will be back in January, and at the last minute we have added Rte 72X to the list of new timetables coming out for January 11th - there will be new trips in the morning and afternoon periods starting with that schedule date. Brochures with more information

for you have already been sent to the printer and will be distributed on buses and in our stations. If you would like me to post the new times here, just post a note on this bulletin board prior to January 11th.



This additional service was added because the number of standees from the park-n-Ride regularly exceeded standards adopted by our Board of Directors. We're pleased to be able to respond in this manner to people who "vote with their seats" for improved service.

Ward Road Crosstown

As some customers who have spoken with us know, RTD service planners designed Rte 125 - Denver West Crosstown so that it could eventually be extended north from its current terminal at the Applewood Shopping Center (West 38th & Youngfield). This was done back in 1987, but slow growth caused us to keep this proposal on the shelf. Buses continued to trundle between 38th Avenue and the Cold Spring park-n-Ride via the Denver West office park in the meantime.



With extensive new developments underway, including major increases in shopping and employment along the route, we now believe that it is time to revisit this idea. Plans for the route extension would take it north via the Ward Road park-n-Ride (connections with

Rtes 6X, 44Ltd, 72X, AA and private casino buses), along Ward Road past Drake Jr. High School to the shopping focal point at Ward Road/64th Avenue (connections with Rtes 52, 58X , 72 and CC). It may be possible, with additional study, to extend the route further north or west.



We would appreciate your comments posted here about the proposal. Where should its northern terminal be? At the earliest, we would hold public meetings to discuss this in late May or early June, for the September 1998 changes. This is a concept for your consideration at this point, and subject to revisions or deletion of the proposal depending

on a variety of circumstances beyond our control. Thank you for your help in getting this service started.
