Special Invitation to Operation: Safe Community Forum |

You are cordially invited to attend the Operation: Safe Community (OSC) Forum to hear about progress made, and how citizens are making a difference, towards achieving Memphis-Shelby County’s aggressive goal of becoming one of the safest communities of our size in the country.
As you may know, OSC is part of the Memphis Fast Forward initiative, and was launched in late 2006 through a collaborative effort of government, business, academic and community leaders. Since that time, in the City of Memphis, annual trends reveal that serious crime declined over 16% in 2009 as compared to 2006; in addition, this year during the first quarter, serious crime decreased 19.7% compared to the same period last year (2009.) In areas patrolled by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, annual trends show serious crime decrease of 2.9% in 2009 as compared to 2006; in addition, this year during the first quarter, serious crime decreased 8% compared to the same period last year (2009.)
OSC is spearheaded by the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission, a roundtable of community leaders who developed the OSC plan and who oversee and advance the implementation of its 15 strategies.
