FYI, this email about what can be done about problem property owners:

David Isom, owner of the most blighted rental properties all along
Getwell and now spreading inside neighborhoods in the University
District, will be answering a summons to appear before Judge Potter in
Environmental court tomorrow (Jan. 21), and the Sherwood Forest Neighborhood
Association has decided to stand together and attend, hoping to send the
message that this man's failure to maintain his properties has very real
consequences for all of us. This isn't a civil trial; that comes next,
as we plan to sue him in the near future for violating community
standards and maintaining nuisance properties. Tomorrow is simply about
answering to the judge for his many violations.
While I don't believe the judge will make much progress impressing upon
Mr. Isom the serious need for him to rehabilitate his properties, I do
believe a large group of neighbors might at the very least communicate
to Mr. Isom that we've all had enough. Any further inaction on his part
will result in litigation on our's, and as you are probably aware, we've
had success suing slum lords in 4 neighborhoods so far.
Please consider joining us and encouraging all our neighbors in the
University District to attend, and please forward this email to any
interested stakeholders.

And as always, my warmest regards to our neighbors across Park Avenue!

Slum lord? You are entitled to your opinion about the properties Mr. Isom owns, however, I must point out that it is both inappropriate and unconscienable that one would post such personal attacks on the internet for all to see. Using the words "slum lord", and providing conjecture on what will or will not impress Mr. Isom are very vendictive.

This man may own properties that appear, in your opinion, to be below the standards of the neighborhood. However, please remember that this man is also a decorated war veteran, having served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Korea, He spent close to 30 years fighting for our country.

I honestly believe that the solutions to situations like this are facilitated through the refraint of such emotionally charged rhetoric, I hope that you can rise to the occasion, and control your emotions, as well as what you posted on the internet.

I am his daughter, and had done a google search on my father to show my two children - his grandchildren. I am answering questions from my six year old who can read quite well about 'what is a slum lord and why are they calling my GrandDaddy that?" It is one thing to post your angst about the condition of the house, but it is completely another to incorporate personal attacks with such ugly name calling into your posts.

I respectfully request that you remove the term "slum lord" from your post.

Sincerely,

Celia Brent
