Squirrel trouble

Posted in: Colonial Acres
Has any one found a good remedy to keep the squirrels from digging up freshly planted bedding plants or from digging into planters?? Last year I tried mothballs in the flowerbeds but they ignored those. This year I am using hot pepper powder but that is not really working either. I would appreciate any suggestions to keep them away.

Squirrel

A cheap radio, turned down real low at night, or day will keep them away.

Human hair seems to keep 'em away. It doesn't decompose, keeps a human smell, apparently they don't like it... Viola!!! Short cut hair is what you want, just kinda strew it here and there, most barber shops will let you have a sackful. Works really good keeping deer out of fruit trees. Hope it helps.
squirrel deterrent

While shopping for more efficient RAT TRAPS today, I noticed a product made to deter raccoons, cats, dogs, chipmunks, and squirrels. I'm going to try it this year when I plant my fall bulbs. The critters ate 50 buck's worth of bulbs last fall!! I'm also going to see if it keeps my neighbor's 20 wormy cats from pooping in my flower beds!

I can't remember exactly what it was called...critter something? I do know that it was made from natural, non-toxic ingredients, though.

Good luck!
