Keep Cloverdale Overlook Safe (& Beautiful)!
Sunday, July 13, 2014
Dear Community Member:
I have been a resident of your community, Cloverdale Overlook, for over 17 years and a part of Prince William County for many more. I feel that we have one of the most beautiful and intimate span of properties in Dale City surrounded by trees in front and a park in the rear.
Since 2011, the HOA board has recognized safety and security to be an important part of our community care. To that end our community members, founded the Cloverdale Overlook Neighborhood Watch. Neighborhood Watch signs now mark all 3 entrances to our community. William Kelly is your Neighborhood Watch captain and I am the founding coordinator.
Attached to this letter is a flyer announcing the next Neighborhood Watch Training date on Wednesday, July 16th, 7:00PM at the Ferlazzo Building located off of Cardinal Dr. – This is close to your home. The address is attached.
This week several automobiles from our community, parked on the curb of Cloverdale Rd., were broken into. Their windows were shattered and items inside were stolen. If you notice suspicious behavior or loitering, please call the Police Department at 703-792-6500. The PWC police department encourages members to report suspicious behavior. If you have an emergency, a life is threatened, or a crime is taking place, please dial 911. I know by speaking with many of you, that you are concerned for the safety of your families. With your collective help, we can continue to insure the safety and security of ourselves, our children, and our property.
Among other significant improvements, we have installed 4 new streetlights that now illuminate our entrances. We upgraded others. We have also been community advocates by working with our local government leaders and the police department (including the Neighborhood Watch) to improve our community with a multi-faceted, hands-on approach. We have also been awarded a new streetlight that is to be installed (no charge to the HOA) behind 15160 on the way to the park entrance. This award is significant as there are only 5 allotted to the county per each year. This furthers our goal of bracketing the security of our entire property which extends from Benita Fitzgerald to theCloverdaleParkentrance.
In addition, there is a researched correlation between litter and crime that is promoted on the county website. For everyone’s benefit, please Keep Cloverdale Overlook Beautiful this summer by not littering, securing your refuse, and notifying your children to do the same.
If you are an owner or tenant and interested in safety, please join the Neighborhood Watch crime reporting email list, attend the meeting on Wednesday, and introduce yourself to fellow concerned citizens by completing this online form: http://goo.gl/rBzhlU . You can also email me at cloverdale.overlook.nw@gmail.com and I'll place you on the list.
Have a Wonderful Summer!
