Our present system is unhealthy , inefficient and elitist:

1- Asthma rates are alarming – Hells kitchen has 3 times as many childern hospitalizations as Upper East Side and right behind Harlem.
Deaths by Lung Cancer are 25 % above East side average
New yOrk overall has the second worst air after LA

HOW MUCH A DAY SHOULD THE POLLUTERS PAY ?

2- Length of commute is 10 minutes or 50% above national average, second only to Los Angeles.

HOW MUCH SHOULD EVERY CAR PAY TO REDUCE COMMUTE TIME BY 30%?

3 - 75% of the Public space (streets) is dedicated to 25% of users (Cars)
In manhattan the average annual revenue of a car owner is $ 105,000.
Overall in new York city car owners make 30% ($ 10,000) more annually than bus riders..

Only 10% of commuters by car(27,000) TRULY do not have a public transportation alternative.The others use the car for comfort and convenience

$ 500 millions in transportation improvements

The Federal government is ready to give NEW York city $500 millions to install it . Since the cost is only 225 millions , we will gain 275 millions for public transportation improvements

What do we have to lose

It is a three year test . If it doesn’t work, we will still have gained 275 million in transportation improvements for "free".
