The History of Madison Park Trunk or Treat

The Trunk or Treat event was started by an individual by the name of Daneen Gimson as soon as the Madison Central Park was completed in 2011.   The Trunk or Treat started out as a private event by a group of moms. Mrs Gimson hosted the event for three years, starting in 2011 through 2013.   In 2013, the HOA spent $75 to purchase popcorn to support this private event, started by an individual.  We also passed out candy paid for by the HOA.    That moms group was made up of Madison Park and Montclaire parents.

HOA chose to host the event in 2014 and 2015. The HOA did not host the Trunk or Treat event in 2016 but wants to do it in 2017. Math tells us  that the HOA has hosted the Trunk or Treat event three out of seven years.   History also tells us that once upon a time,  the HOA stood with and supported (with funding and promotion) individuals with passion to serve and contribute to their neighborhood community.

All of the above is true.    The event was always advertised as a moms group event, with Daneen Gimson as the point of contact.

Check the minutes for Sept. & Oct. during those years.  It will be spelled out clearly.

She was also the same person that started the Egg Hunts for the 3 years.   Again the HOA contributed to those private events by buying 144 dozen plastic eggs.  We also promoted the event at our meetings, on our calendar, and through our distribution list.

She was not even a paid HOA member at the time she started her events.  However the value of her events was seen by the HOA during those years and we Gladly promoted them to the community and media.

Posting this because I understand someone reported a similar post that was a response to a post Douglas did that was actually not the truth regarding the Trunk or Treat Events over the years.    Just becausse someone says it does not mean it is true.

Frankly it was a jerk move for the HOA to even do the Trunk or Treat this year when they knew someone else had that planned along with a Food Truck Rally since June 2017 and they had been asked to help with the cost of the permits.

Madison Park residents have supported the Halloween Night Event through donations on a gofundme page.

The HOA does not own exclusive rights to the Trunk or Treat.

I would worry about getting out the minutes that you have done a horrible job doing this year, making sure the board and officers are all legally serviing (which they are not). You are in major violations of the HOA BYLAWS.   Operating illegally.   If you fail to hold an election by the end of this year.   The entire board including the legally elected ones from the fall of 2015 will all be off the board.  Then you will have an organization without a single legal director or officer.   So way to keep the HOA going guys and gals.   Your leadership skills are the Pitiful!
