I received this email from our president some weeks ago. Anyone heard any updates?

Dear Circle C Homeowners:

There has been a breech into the official CCHOA homeowners e-mail program. We have notified the Austin Police Department, and if any evidence can be generated, the CCHOA will press charges against any individual or group of individuals who are responsible for this felony action.

When an official CCHOA notification was sent yesterday, we noticed a number of irregularities in the transmission. Upon further investigation, it appears that someone had hacked into our computer to gain access to our e-mail database. And further, we have now been contacted by numerous homeowners who have received an e-mail this morning, not sent by us, that directly relates to the election being held by the CCHOA that could only have been sent with someone who had access to your stolen e-mail address.

The use of the e-mail database is limited to the official business of the Association and community related announcements by schools and amenity providers (Circle C Golf, Tennis, Cafe, Landscape, Child Development Center, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center) who are affiliated with Circle C Ranch. All posts are done from the Circle C Homeowners Association and have been reviewed by the Board of Directors. No personal or business use of this list is allowed, and it is never released to anyone. We represent to the you the homeowners that this list will not be provided to anyone.

Our service provider has researched this situation and is sure that this is a hacking situation.

This type of behavior is illegal and unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the Circle C Homeowners Association. If you have received any e-mail that would be unexpected at your address, please let us know so we can track down who is behind this theft and the breech of your privacy.

Please be assured that we are doing everything in our power to investigate this problem and we will keep you informed of our progress.

Thank you,

Jim O'Reilly -President, Circle C Homeowners Association
