ceiling collapse

Posted in: Cavalcade

August 11, 2013 while I was home at 12:30 p.m., my master bedroom ceiling fell.  I would have been hurt if I had been in there. The entire ceiling fell, all drywall, wood trim and attic insulation.  The debris covered the entire bedroom and it was knee deep.  It was a HAZ-MAT clean-up due to the insulation and cost my insurance company $3,000  The replacement of the ceiling drywall, wood trim, and insulation, plus painting cost $2,400.  All five pieces of wood furniture are slightly scratched or broken, I have not have the repair company in yet, so don't know the cost.  A cleaning company came and took all clothing, carpets, and fabric items (412 items) and I have not seen the bill for this. According to my neighbor, who has lived here since these homes were new (1979), mine was the 6th ceiling that fell.  The inspector says there were not enough nails holding the drywall up (no water leak was found). I suggest you check your upstairs ceiling for any cracks or lumps.  I did not suspect there was any problem.

You can ask me about it 7417 Fountain Head.
