Castle Pines North Homeowners Association Number One

July - Pool & Club House

Aug 20, 1999

POOL OPENING
The pool was officially open with a life guard on Saturday, May 29. Please keep the Pool Rules for future reference. Apollo Aquatics is again the vendor for all pool services. Please call Apollo Aquatics for any questions concerning Swimming Lessons or Life Guards, 303-231-9211. Pool keys are available from Cathy Oehm 660-8061 or MaryAnn McKinnon 660-4495.

ATTENTION!!
Recently complaints have been made about the requirement that everyone get out of the pool during lifeguard breaks. In the past, only children were required to get out of the pool during lifeguard breaks, but that causes problems with HUD regulations. The lifeguards asked that the HUD regulations be reprinted in the newsletter. Here are the applicable parts:
RELIEF FOR THE COMPLAINANT

2. Respondents agree to inform all members of the Homeowners Association of the prohibitions of the Fair Housing Act as they pertain to the protection of families with children, by including a statement in the next newsletter to read as follows:
The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of familial status (race, color, national origin, religion, sex, and handicap). Under the Fair Housing Act, it is unlawful to deny anyone access to a facility or service because of their familial status (race, color, national origin, religion, sex, or handicap). Restricting the use of the swimming pool for adults only denies the use of the facility to persons because of their familial status; therefore, would be in violation of the Fair Housing Act. If a person believes that their rights have been violated under the Fair Housing Act, it is their right to file a complaint with HUD. It is also a violation of the Fair Housing Act for any person to intimidate, threaten, or otherwise retaliate against anyone who has filed a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.

3. Respondents agree to ensure that their revised swimming pool rules will be strictly enforced so that there will be no future occurrences of ?“adult only?” swim time.
