While some homeowners are conscientious about how their trees look others have let them grow however they will. Ideally, we want mature trees to be without branches for at least the first ten feet of trunk. The idea is to develop a tree canopy above the house, not in front of it. Taking care of the trees will enhance property values by improving the appearance of the property and will also provide added comfort and usablilty to the property owner. Basic tree trimming is something all homeowners can do. I'd like to post some how-to basics on this website.

Thank You for your post -- I never really thought about height of branches on the trunk and the reasoning -- dugh!

I'd like to see tips on basic tree trimming -- from a neighbor like you -- but not the company who came in and spread the bore!  haha  I KNOW they say it was not the trimming that spread it but lets just say that those of us who watched the inevitable happen know that the trim helped the spread faster .....
