CHARACTER COUNTS! Week 2005

CHARACTER COUNTS!SM Week and Red Ribbon Week joined forces October 23rd - 30th to celebrate character education and drug awareness. Schools participated in numerous events that taught the importance of good character and living a drug free life. Some of those activities included:
Pleasant Hill Elementary held a CC!/Red Ribbon Week kick off on October 19th. Mayor John Zumer and Superintendent Dr. Robert Brower discussed the importance of good character. Students also performed the CC! Six Pillar Shuffle and sang the ?“Totally TRRFCC?” song.
Nicholson Elementary students wore a different color each day to represent the colors of the six pillars. Students also had the opportunity to sign a poster promising they will be ?“Drug Free?” and ?“A Kid of Character?”.
Walnut Elementary held a door decorating contest combining the themes of Just Say No with the Six Pillars of CharacterSM. In addition, each day of the week had a different CC!/Just Say No theme. Monday was ?“Good Character is Being Drug Free?” and students were asked to wear red.
Ladoga Elementary included CC! in their Grandparents Day program. Mary Lynn Harris spoke to more than 400 students and their grandparents on Wednesday October 19th. Mary Lynn stressed the importance of instilling good character habits in their grandchildren. Students also donated cans of food for the Ladoga Community Food Bank.
