Brewer Housing Authority

Meeting minutes

March 29, 2007

IN ATTENDENCE: Mary Henderson, Debra Lord-Daigle, Christy Nadeau, Darren Nadeau, Erin Watters, Karen Woods

This meeting of the Family Resident Council was held in the Community Room of Brewer Housing Authority at 1 Colonial Circle, Brewer, Me.. Meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm.

We opened the meeting with an overview of the announcements. These included Karen Woods no longer residing in Housing but wishing to stay on in a non resident advisor position. Secondly, the tentative date for the Annual BBQ of August 18, 2007 with a rain date of August 19, 2007. Also announced is the new website for housing residents with a brief overview of the site address and content.

We moved on to discussion of the Playground and the possibility of new equipment. The estimates that Debra Daigle acquired ranged from a new playground of comparable size, of the current one, with safety plastic of $12,000 and up as well as additions to the current playground for younger children under 6 ranging from $2300 and up. Further discussion on this was agreed upon and further estimates will be looked at.

Karen Woods at this point spoke of a fundraiser that the company she is employed for, UNICEL, held for Brewer Housing. The company raised money on Fridays by paying to dress casual/wear jeans etc. The amount will be announced at the next meeting when a final total is available.

Moving on, we briefly discussed elections and the process to take. As only 5 residents were in attendance, it was agreed to postpone nominations until a better response could be obtained. Fliers are to go out for nominations to all residents for a larger gathering of eligible people. These will be hand delivered sometime within the next few weeks. Further discussion included the nomination and election process, and what the positions available are.

A brief discussion of Darren Nadeau?’s program he and his wife are putting together for the benefit of the residents was openly accepted. The tentative date is May 4th at the Brewer High School, with a general menu of simple foods such as is served at the annual holiday parties. The approximate time of this program will run 90 minutes to 2 hours: starting at 6 pm.

Also discussed were several items that Mr. Nadeau brought up. Further discussion on this will be taken up outside of the regular meeting with the appropriate persons.

This meeting of the Brewer Housing Authority Family Resident Council was dismissed at 7:15 pm.

Respectfully Submitted;
