Please Turn Down the Heat! (update on Summer)

Aug 17, 2003

June was great (the rain was fantastic), but now we are settled back into a long, HOT Summer! Denver Water now lets us water 3 days per week, for 15 minutes per station, between 6pm and 10am If you have an ?“odd?” numbered house: on Saturday, Monday & Wednesday; even addresses on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Surcharges will be phased out in July, thanks to higher water levels. Please remember that you can water your trees and shrubs- deep root feeding is best. It is absolutely mandatory! We are slowly losing many trees (especially White Birch and others that need more water). Denver Water will pay its customers a rebate for purchasing and installing certain types of irrigation equipment (up to $220), purchasing and planting approved species of trees and shrubs (up to $200), and purchasing and incorporating approved types of soil amendments (up to $300). Call me or see the Denver Water website for details. I?’d be happy to talk to anyone interested in ?“saving the trees?”, about tree care, or planting.
