Is there anything we can do about the people that are speeding down our residental streets? There are a lot of young children in this neighborhood that ride bikes and play outside in the front yard and I am afraid one of them might get hurt sometime.

Unfortuntely the speed limit in a residential area is 35 unless posted otherwise, unless it has changed! Something needs to be done about cars parking on both sides of the streets especially in the curves on the more narrow streets(salado). I don't know what could be done, the police are busy siting fourwheelers and dirt bikes in the woods from all the calls from "concerned citizens". There is at least one officer in the neighborhood, maybe he could tell us what the speed limit is. I always told my kids the street is for cars the back yard and parks for children(easier said that done, I know). |

these problems are related. parking cars in the street slows the other cars down - we all know that because we get irritated when we have to slow down. parking in the street is a great, subconscious cue to others to slow their cars down. i've also seen someone on my street put up yellow signs like the ones that say "caution: wet floor". only these ones say "please slow down. children at play". great idea! |
