We are not safe in our neighborhood any more. My family is not safe in our home anymore. After the homeless set our backyard on fire in Dec after asking the police to remove them for over a month that has cost us upwards in $10,000 and mental anguish, we were hit upon by a burglar at 10:40 pm IN OUR HOME ON TUESDAY NIGHT THIS WEEK (4/13), while three of our family members were home and awake!

After restructuring our own home due to the power of our intruders and putting up $4,000 worth of 6 feet fencing and locked gates into our backyard (after the homeless ruined our backyard) some 20ish year old Hispanic man sliced the sliding screen door of our very secluded bedroom and proceeded to burglarize our home, until he bumped into my 16 year old son.

So far the things he has stolen were my husband's wallet which was recovered with missing items, but more importantly, the keys to our home and our 7 vehicles.........every one of them, was not recovered. It costs over $250.00 to change the ignition and lock switch in each vehicle as well as changing all 10 keyholes in our 4300 square foot home. We cannot do it. We have done much of what the police have suggested. We thinned the oleanders where the homeless were squatting and we enclosed them in our new fencing. We have an alarm on our home but since we were in it with the screens open for the cool air it was not turned on. We can't sleep now knowing our vehicles might be driven off at any minute. We can't afford to run these new losses on insurance, as we lost our home of 17 years on Mt Lemmon to the fire and less than 6 months later our backyard shed, fence, oleanders, and water irrigation losses the homeless left us with. Because the police came over to my house and told me how harmless the homeless were and there was nothing they could do, I wrote an email to the mayor and other important officials. The next day the police were back because Richard Elias notified his friend Leavitt, Chief of Police, who sent another officer to take care of it. The officer took care of it by moving the belongings of the homeless in the alley and that night they became irate and sent bombs into our backyard shed, igniting the newly remodeled shed and all of my daughter's apartment storage in it. I was so angry I was contemplating suing the police department. So far I haven't.

Now I am unsafe. Tues night this bold burglar left my house (with a rancid odor of smoke and booze), after coming upon my son. Then my neighbor who was out walking saw him jumping the next door neighbor's house and he chased him down Drachman and onto Adams into his getaway car and lost him. I don't know if this burglar was homeless or not, but I have since found out that the Church at 2331 East Adams is feeding AND SHOWERING these homeless people, sandwiched between two elementary schools. We have four children. The youngest is 16. But there are tons of small children in this expensive neighborhood and this Church is not the right place for a homeless shelter. I have spoken to several people who have been accosted by these homeless people. We are all advocates for the homeless people but they HAVE NO RIGHT TO LIVE IN OUR BACKYARD.
This has got to stop and we neighbors will do everything it takes till it is ended. If my husband and I have to sue the city and the Church we will do it.

We are planning a meeting with the Father of the Church of Grace hopefully on Wed night this week.
We would appreciate some support on this matter or it can get out of hand.

Sincerely,
Danielle Clark
