City of Bellemeade

New Candidate for Mayor

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

I have lived here a long time and have never used this site, but those inane emails that that lady is sending out have prompted me to speak my piece.  Is she running the campaign?   Who is he?  I had to get a 7th grader to show me how to sign on here.

Could we get the new candidate to post his views, qualifications, experience, and reasosn for wanting to be mayor?   I see no reason to vote out our present mayor after all he has done especially in keeping University of Louisville from turning next door into a shopping center and getting speed humps put on the streets.  But, since we elect our representatives, I am willing to listen to good reasons that the man wants to have the job.  So, please educate us please.  I have not seen anything except those aggravating emails; they aggravate my neighbors too.

An email blitz is a pretty immature way to get elected by the way; but I am still willing to listen.  And, I really don't like Mayor OdomGroh, but he does do a good job especially for no pay.

I understand your frustration's about the way my candidacy was handled at the beginning.  There are some neighbors that are excited about me running for mayor and have been trying to get the word out before election day.  I just wanted to let you know I started a discussion about my background and objectives.  I hope you can join us on Thursday night the 28th for dessert and coffee and get a chance to my family and myself.  Once again I apologize for the email blitz that was sent out.

I am very disappointed and totally unmoved by your reply.  That is all well and good that you are having an introduction party, but that is not what I need.  Number 1, a very large percentage of the residents of Bellemeade are elderly and don't travel well at night.  Number 2, you need to take a stand on something else you think we will fall for anything.  We won't.  A democracy exists only if the voters can make wise choices.  For that we need facts, not fun and glee.

Why do you want to be mayor?  Why do your friends want you to be mayor?  Why were they so aggressive at the beginning; so aggressive that you felt that it was necessary to apologize for their email blitz in your post above?    Apologize not just once, but twice.

Where is the discussion that you started about your background and objectives?  Do you have any experience in government?  How long have you lived here?

Can you enforce city ordinances as stringently, quickly, and fairly as our present mayor does?  Will you have the time to deal with problems as they come up?  Remember, Bellemeade has NO city workers.  Things get done when people like Mr. Hill and Mr. Mayor do when they replace signs for no pay.

What qualifications do you have to be an executive?  Unles you present substantive and logical evidence of what you stand for on things like taxes, your qualifications, and the real issues of government, it is going to take more than sugar and caffine to sway intelligent voters.

And as far as the email blitz, it sounded more like a vendetta than a campaign - very poor taste.  I hope that person will not influence your decision-making.  I have a sick feeling in my stomach that they talked you into running because of some run-in they had with Mr. Groh.  I hope that is not true?  Have you, personally, ever had a run-in with him?

I hope you come back with real answers to the comments and questions I have posed.  A qualified candidate would do that?

Mr Groh, can I get you to comment on this contest too?

Well, obviously you didn't scroll down to the discussion below yours.  If you would have you would't have responded as negatively as you did.  I will not apologize twice for an email that was sent out by someone else letting the neighborhood know about a new candidate.  If you feel that I am trying to butter you up with sugar and caffeine you can stay at home.  I know there are elder neighbors that live in this city, there are also a lot of new young families just starting out, like myself.  The meet and greet is not at night, it's when the majority of the neighborhood gets off work.

Also, I am not retired, so if you are looking for a candidate that can be available for your needs 24/7 then you should vote in the current mayor.  I am a hard working adult that puts in 50-60 hours a week.  During my time off I will address issues in the neighborhood, but family and work come first.  No, I do not have any political background.  Just out of curiosity, how many of our Mayor's have been Mayor's for other cities?

Yes, a lot of people in the neighborhood have had negative run-in's with the current mayor.  This campaign is not a vendetta, it's a younger generation that wants a mayor that will listen to them and make changes that will effect their future's.  The majority of the neighborhood will be here for the next 40 + years and want their neighborhood to remain as prestige as it has for the last 60 years.

So please scroll down on the discussion board and you will see my background information.  If you would like to discuss more, I recommend you come out to the meet and greet or stop by my house anytime.  I am off work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
