The frost damaged Oleanders from two winters past have been clipped to the ground at the 1st entranceway. A fresh layer of pine bark has been spread temporarily until a new plant scheme is come up with. It has been suggested to use Vibernum hedge plants to create a row of privacy between the property and the road, in the back of the beds. These hedge plants are what you see along the common walls. A planting of the Indian Hawthorne bushes was also suggested to fill the bed where the Oleanders used to be. These Hawthornes are now blooming white flowers. This planting scheme was suggested to match the common wall planting and since these plants are winter hardy there would be no future damage from frost. A quote was made by Williams Nursery right around the corner on Hutchison Rd. for the pine bark and plants for right around $810, if I remember right. At the last board meeting held on March 7th the board president, Danny Crawford, made a motion to buy the pine bark at this time until a plant scheme of design was had. Danny had shot down my suggestion saying that 'we needed a drawing to show what it will look like.' He had brought a hand color penciled drawing to the previous meeting with a two page list of shrubs to chose from of which I had made the same remark to him. So, this is the only way this will be decided and rightly it should be.

It was voted unamimously to purchase the pine bark at this time. Danny had the bark delivered and spread on Saturday, March 12th.

So, here we sit and for how long before a plant design can be found and decided upon? It took two years or more to get the frost damaged and dead Oleanders cut down to the ground and some new pine bark spread. I scratch my head every day and wonder how to come up with a design on paper to present before the board in hopes that it will be accepted and we can move on and get this behind us. Is Danny calling around and trying to get something for us? I had called Davey, a landscape and tree service company and had someone contact me via email to set up an appointment to come out and discuss a landscape planting design. I forwarded the email I received to Danny and a couple of days ago I had seen Danny conferring with two men from Davey at the 1st entranceway.

If I know Danny, he will do it eventually. We just have to sit back and wait now Go Danny!.

Update: Last week the 2nd entrance flower beds were trimmed back. Only a few Oleander plants remain on the left bed due to past Winter frost damage. The bed on the right didn't seem to get hit by the frost. This bed has now been cut back about a foot from the ground. Mulch was hauled in and spread on these beds in preparation for what lies ahead. At this time it's up in the air as to what the board is planning. We are still waiting on designs and suggestions from anyone and everyone on this. We've waited this long, we can wait a little longer I suppose.

At this rate, the economy will be fixed and your children adults!

Wait wait wait!

Why can't people start and finish something? They certainly want to take credit for the demolition but don't want to wait till they complete the job. You certainly would not tear down a house and put off the rebuilding and say " Look what I did!"

Lets all remember-we pay are fees to have the upkeep done as well as other things the money goes for-why would any homeowner see this as good progress? When I start seeing a refund because the work is not completed in a satisfactory time-I will shut up. If the leader of this community were employed by me and in a meeting cited the entry ways as a project done-and left it in it's current state for months-he would be fired!!!

But why should I be surprised? It took 22 months to pressure wash the entry ways [they look better but should have done more East-West side walk] and I guess I should be patting certain people on the back but I didn't stop paying my fees during those 22 months did I?

Things are getting done and you get reminded of this every meeting.

But I also am reminded of the current sad state of Bella Vista every time I drive around and see the board members house whose lawn is still pitiful [although he has been saying for months-he is going to replace] and Ragusa's old house and my neighbor both have re-sodded their lawns. Two single mothers-down on their luck. Difference being-he is the board member who decides which violations need to go out!!!! I brought up in a meeting that maybe he should excuse himself from being the one who handles that until he takes care of his and the President ask if I am questioning someones integrity!! We are again back to people running the show that think the rules were made for you and me but they can do what they want. Believe me- I know I live close to one of our great leaders. Yard trash set out Saturday morning for all to enjoy the sight of it until Tuesday when it is picked up, yard waste not cleaned up after mowing [he has addressed-he bought a blower and now blows in the street], weeds growing out his flower beds-all from the guy that takes pot shots at Paul before the meeting to try to get Paul riled up so Paul will come across as a constant complainer during the meetings because he has been upset before the meeting started! Funny-he asked why Paul didn't pick up trash in the street in front of his house-meanwhile because he dosen't clean up his own mess-it winds up in his neighbors drive and down the street. Anyone think we have a shortage of hypocrite's in Bella Vista? Wake up good people.
