Parking Regulations on the Parkway

Parking on the grass

I have spoken several times on behalf of the Mayor in the last couple days and we do not allow parking on the parkway grass, particularly not under the trees. We will be writing a letter to the property owner in question and informing him of the proper policy

More from Brigid Sullivan, dirc. Dept. of Parks

I noticed a number of vehicles parked in front of your address on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. The Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby were run on these respective days. I am sure you were trying to accommodate the many visitors to our community. However, the area where these vehicles were parked is Metro Parks Property.

I assume you were not aware of this fact. Please accept this letter as formal notification that the property along Southern Parkway, extending 150' perpendicular to the centerline of the roadway on either side is park property. Metro Parks is the authorizing agency for any activity in this area. This includes vehicle parking.

I trust this will resolve this issue. However, should this activity recur the police will be notified to tag and tow any vehicles parked in the area. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Sincerely,

Brigid Sullivan
