When: Thursday, Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Where: Joe Chillura Courthouse Square (corner of Pierce St. and Kennedy Blvd.)

County Holiday Tree Lighting Festival Scheduled Dec. 3

Kick-off the holiday season Dec. 3 at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square during the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Festival hosted by Hillsborough County and the Friends of the County Parks.

The free family event features snow slide rides, musical entertainment, Yuletide treats, carnival and inflatable games, arts-n-crafts, and the Christmas House with photos and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m.

Hillsborough County will also be collecting unused or outdated cell phones, chargers and carrying cases, as part of their Cell Phones For Soldiers cell phone drive.

Joe Chillura Courthouse Square is located at the corner of Pierce St. and Kennedy Blvd., across the street from the Fred B. Karl County Center in downtown Tampa. Call (813) 635-3500 for event information.

Ballast Point Holiday Concert

Hello Everyone! Save the date on Saturday 12/12 3:30-6:00pm for the second annual Ballast Point Holiday Concert in the Park! Once again, the Robinson High School orchestra will be playing carols (starting at 4:00) and we're working on getting Santa to pay us a visit. We'll have spiced apple cider, hot chocolate and egg nog to sip on so bring your blankets, chairs and get ready to cozy up! In case you hadn't heard, the BPNA donated $22,823 to the City of Tampa for the BP Tot Lot. With our contribution and the $25,000 donation from the City, they purchased the playground (design included shade structure and swings presented at the May 2009 BPNA mtg) in September. The timing of installation is uncertain since it is all now in the City's hands; it could be anywhere from January 2010 to Spring of 2011. We're going to City Council on December 3rd to formally approve the funds being designated for this purpose. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you at the park on Saturday 12/12.
