Car Theifts

Posted in: Middletown Village

Everyone should be aware that there are many cars being broken into.  Please make sure to lock your cars every night.  The culprits are  looking in cars for GPS's and other items to get rid of quickly.  There is word of mouth that there are several kids,  around ages 14 or 15,  that are stealing these items.  There have been some words from kids around the neighborhood that have been reported to the police and have a good idea of who this person/persons  is .  Please talk to your kids and if any information that is known please report to police.  The kids that are allegedly performing these actions have children in our neighborhood afraid of them and the kids are afraid to tell anyone what information they know. With every ones help we can put these kids away and have a happy neighborhood.

Thank you for the community alert.  The MTVC&CWG has had contact with the Middletown Police Department concerning these thefts and the probability of the perpetrators originating from within our own community.  The matter is currently under investigation and any information that our neighbors may provide, related to this matter, would be appreciated and treated confidentially.  Our neighbors can contact the Crime Prevention Specialist Officer Christine Brenner at Christine.Brenner@cj.state.de.us or by calling (302)376-9964.  Again, all contacts will be treated with confidentiality.

All our neighbors are encouraged to make sure that, when leaving their homes and vehicles, they are secured as best as possible, i.e., pertaining to vehicles, please remember to take any items of value with you when leaving your vehicle or place the items somewhere in the vehicle where they are not visible; e.g., the car trunk.
