Barcley Estates Homeowners Association

Holiday Luminaries

Christmas Eve tradition

For years, Barcley homes have displayed luminaries on Christmas Eve from dusk through the night along the curbs in front of their homes. It is a way to enjoy the festivity of the neighborhood as we celebrate the holidays no matter the religion celebrated by our residents. In 2001 and 2002 we especially encouraged residents to participate in remembrance of the freedom we enjoy in the United States.

What is a luminary?

It is a candle in a white paper bag with either sand, pebbles or birdseed used to hold the candle in the bottom center of the bag. Place them 4-6 feet apart on the curb. The Association sells six bags and candles for $5.00 per set. Some homeowners purchase two sets especially if they own a home on a corner with a side yard curb as well as the front curb.

Out of town on December 24th eve?

You can still participate by telling an Association Officer or volunteer. We will be sure to place the luminaries out and light them for you.
