Respect-O-Meter: Neighbor
break-ins

A co-worker told me that the Registry was featured on the news because that there were break-ins to some of the units. I saw several police cars including a crime scene invesitigation unit, but do not know if these were related. Does anyone have any information regarding the break-ins (if any) and what was the breach in security that enabled break-ins?

On Friday, November 7, 2008 at The Registry several units were broken into.  The security and safety of the entire community is of concern to the Board of Administration, especially since they too are affected by this violation of their safety and sense of security.  That said we have spoken with the police and they attended the meeting held on November 13. 2008.  Detective Stevens, who is in-charge of the investigation, Officer Goglas with Patrol Services, and Officer Dantes were at the meeting.  Additionally, prior to the meeting we met with Officer Patrick who made some useful recommendations as to how to increase the security at The Registry and the individual units.  Among them were: replacing the aluminum locks with steel locks instead, installing latch guards on the door to secure it better, and installing convex mirrors in the hallways.  Officer Goglas mentioned at the meeting that they will be conducting a survey to determine the areas of opportunity and a report with their recommendations will be submitted.

if you will look at my posts in April and May of this year, you will see i have complained about the security issues prior to the break-ins. only now, after 6 were hit at one time do we as an assoc. get up in arms..........this has a great deal to do with the non registered renters, and those people that run the gate but have a bar code that looks similar to ours and park where they want and are not at risk of being towed. if you are an owner you can ask to see the video from your $62,000 cameras and see people running the gate all day and night with no consequences. those might be the same people that broke into the condos here. mmmmmmmmm???!!! who knows.

Dear RegistryGuy,

As a tenant in the community we appreciate your concern and pro-activeness.  We understand your concern so, with that said, please be advised that  the COA has taken steps to ensure the community is safe.  In fact OPD attended the meeting held by the owners/membership on November 13.  Please contact your landlord in order to learn what was discussed at the meeting.

We are sadened to see that you continue to grow so frustrated with our community despite that said incident is in fact a rare and isolated one. In fact OPD confirmed such at the meeting.

In regards to individuals running the gates, please be advised that The Registry does have guest parking within the gated area and owners and registered residents do have the ability and right to let their guests in.

The Board of Administration reviews applications submitted by the owners almost on a weekly basis. Since you are so certain the these individuals are un-registered tenants, please advise the office of their unit number and information. That information will allow us to enforce the rules. On the other hand,  if you are not sure this is the case, we kindly ask that you limit your speculations or call the office directly with your suspicions.  The office and the Board has always addressed your concerns and I am sure this will not be the exception.  Moreover, there are proper procedures to report complaints and suggestions and as a tenant it is always important that you do so through your landlord. Should you have questions, please review the newsletters where in the past we have prompted our wonderful tenants to report all complaints and suggestions to their landlords. Your landlord can then be your voice in front of the Board of Administration.
