NEW PARKSTERS
Welcome to the neighborhood Sherrie Krantz, Tina Prato and James Walsh.

TRANSWEST PROJECT

Wade Sanders of Price Charities will present TransWest Housing?’s plans for an office/retail/housing complex proposed for the City Heights Urban Village on the block south of University and west of Fairmount at our next meeting. Bring your concerns and questions but drive around that block and through the alley if you get a chance so you will know what it looks like now.

PACKER FOR NORTH AZALEA PARK

If you live anywhere on the north side of Poplar St. in Azalea Park, get your friends and relatives to help you move your old sofas and appliances to the curb by 8:30 AM, Saturday, April 29 for pick-up by a ?“packer?” truck. The City of San Diego Environmental Services Department is treating this section of Azalea Park to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get rid of your junk for free. Officer Mark Weidenhoff will be checking this area ahead of time and giving personal invitations to participate or receive a ticket.

CINCO DE MAYO FESTIVAL

We are planning a joint Cinco de Mayo Festival with our Azalea Park Recrection Center. It will be Friday, May 5th (of course) and we hope everyone will come over to Azalea Park for fun, food and music. A caterer will have Mexican food for sale, the Azalea Park Neighborhhood Association (volunteers needed) will sell drinks and the Rec Center will sell candy. Decorations and a Mariachi band will be paid for out of our Neighborhood Civic Fund grant from the San Diego Foundation.
PARKSTER AWARDS

This month we will present Parkster awards to the Azalea Park poll workers. Democracy would fail without poll workers. Poll workers at Grace Church were Cruz Nanez, John Slagle, Lynn Eddy and Uputaua Rufono.
Poll workers at Azalea Park Recreation Center were Linda Pennington, Kathy and Bill Hudson, and Linda Palos. They start Election Day at 6:30 AM and don?’t get to go home until around 9:30 PM.
