Lake Clean Up

Posted in: Audubon Trace
As previously posted, we had 3 adult volunteers Colby Guidry, Scott Givins, Chad Cowart). We also had several kids pitch in (Will North, Nick Tullier, Cameron Tullier, Erica Self, Rayna Loupe, Lauren Garaudy, Blake Bennett). Jeanette and Christi also helped by serving coffe, donuts, and soft drinks. However we did not have enough help to cover the entire two lakes. Therefore, it is up to the lake lot owners to maintain their own portions of the lake. Each lake lot owner is reminded that they are responsible for their own lake front. This includes removing weeds along your portion of the lake. Letters will go out shortly to remind lake lot owners of this responsiblity and to advise them that this restriction will be enforced starting next month. After a walk around the lake this afternoon, it was noted that there are still 14 or more lake lots that need attention.

Check out some pictures from the lake clean up day under the ''Community Pages'' section of this website. Thank you volunteers.
Clean day

When will the association start spraying the lakes to help keep the water lilly's under control?
Spraying lakes

The first step in getting the lakes in order is to ensure that each lake lot owner is maintaining their lake front. If each lake lot owner maintains their lake front as required by the restrictions, then there would be little or no lilies/weeds to worry about.

Spray is double work

Hi Neighbors just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about spraying the lilies in the lake.

We?’ve all seen how fast these weeds can grow and spread. They start from the edges of the embankment and if not controlled can quickly span the entire lake. I've tried spraying costly chemicals and seen others use it as well, but once the chemical kills the lily the brown reminisce stills needs to be physically removed from the lake. It would be nice if it was that simple to spray and ''Presto'' weeds were gone but some things just have to be done by hand. Then on the environmental side its havoc to the aquatic life. The best way to maintain the lake is to spend 1-2 hrs a month raking up your portion and assisting your neighbors in doing the same.

If anyone needs help (work with you; not work for you) I'm willing to lend a hand.

Cheers,
Ed
