ARNA Expenses

The board is working on specific fundraising goals.

However, our organizational expenses include postage for all mailings, production and printing costs for mailings and newsletters, stationary, fees associated with our post office box and bank accounts, fees incurred for general meetings and parties--i.e. space rental, food, drink, or for whatever is not donated. Funds will be spent on beautification projects, such as signs, ''poopy bags,'' etc. Planning & Zoning has expenses related to short term and long range planning, ie. costs for Sanborn maps for zoning evaluation, fees associated with workshop expenses, etc.

The Board has discussed setting up a legal fund in the event ARNA needs to secure the services of an attorney to represent neighborhood interests--if you will recall UNI hired an attorney to assist with the Bus Barn controversy, and because they did not have an established legal fund they are having difficulty paying the legal bills. ARNA does not want to be in that position should it occur. The legal fund is still under consideration.

ARNA must pay for permits, insurance, police protection and other city fees associated with events at public places. And the list goes on...

If you have a particular fundraising goal, please let the us know.

Making the most

Thanks for your reply Robin,

I've just received the invite for 1st Oct meeting, will the DA candidates be funding part of the expenses for the night? They get a captive audience which no amount of house to house, or blind calling will give them.

I think you could call me the devils advocate, I hope I am pushing people to think, and maybe reply to me!

The Candidates are our Guests

Why would I call you a Devil's advocate? I'd rather call you by name, but you have chosen to conceal your identity.

The Board elected to invite the DA candidates to speak to our association--ARNA is sponsoring the forum so that the membership can have the opportunity to see and hear the candidates and hopefully obtain the information needed to make an informed decision on election day. The time, date, and place along with the Board agenda is posted on this very website. If you were opposed to this forum, why didn't you voice your objections to the Board before they voted? The item was clearly placed on the agenda for discussion.

The costs are nominal. Cathy Tisdale, the owner of the UPTOWNER, once again, graciously donated her facility to us. Many thanks to Cathy and the UPTOWNER for being an active and interested member in ARNA.

So many of us have tirelessly volunteered numerous hours to ARNA to keep it from being a one dimensional organziation focused soley on zoning. ARNA wants to have something of interest for everyone. Are you suggesting that ARNA should not spend any money on this neighborhood? Should we cancel the beautification efforts? should we cancel the upcoming planning and zoning workshop? Should we cancel the neighborhood festival? Should we cancel the newsletter? Everything costs money. Maybe you are suggesting that you have the ability to get everything donated that this organization needs to function and perform for the neighborhood. Terrific!! Tell us how we can contact you so that you, too, can volunteer your time and effort for the betterment of this neighborhood.

As they say, you can't please everyone--sorry we are having difficulty pleasing you. And that is my final word on the subject, at least as long as you remain anonymous.
