The City of Arvada has 135 miles of hiking, biking and horse back riding trails throughout the parks and open space system.  Primary trails generally follow the natural drainage systems such as Ralston Creek, Van Bibber Creek, Leaden Creek and Little Dry Creek.  The trails are maintained year round and snow is removed from the trails during winter months.

The majority of trails are hard surface and are designed for a mix of cyclists and walkers and offer routes from place to place throughout the City. Always use the trails with courtesy and safety in mind.  Slower walkers and bikers should always keep right and faster riders should alert slower ones when they are passing.  Please keep horses in designated horseback riding areas.

The City of Arvada is an active participant in a major state wide planning effort to create a regional trail system.  Arvada will continue to extend trails to neighboring communities, shopping centers, parks and schools for the enjoyment
and safety of its residents.

Adopt A Trail Program

The Adopt-A-Trail program utilizes the resources of volunteers to assist the Parks Department in keeping Arvada's trail system beautiful.

Through the Adopt A Trail program short sections of trail are adopted by individuals, companies, schools and other groups. The adopting party enters into an agreement with the City of Arvada, stating that they will be responsible for picking up litter along a specified portion of trail for a period of one year.

The Parks Department provides trash bags and posts signs along the adopted trail, giving recognition to individuals or group volunteers.

For more information, contact the Parks Department at 303-420-0984.
