EXPO ROW

Posted in: W of Westwood
I have rec'd mailers about this and have heard that some of the Cheviot Hills owners want the rail through our neighborhoods. What is the status of this project?

It would be an awful noise, traffic, home depreciating project for most of us to make it convenient for a few to get to downtown when we could have run along the business and apt area of Venice Blvd.

Hi Carl,

I think they already decided on using Expo ROW as the preferred route. Check out this links for more info:

http://friendsforexpo.org/phase2.htm

I think that site is run by Cheviot Hills HOA, but I'm not sure. I don't know why they are endorsing this Expo ROW line instead of the Venice/Sepulveda option. But if you look at the projected estimated building costs, I know that the Expo ROW alternative is about 2/3 the cost of the Venice/Sepulveda option. So, we're pretty much screwed. If it goes up for a vote, the taxpayers will just choose the cheaper option -- Expo ROW.

Now that they've decided to use our railway as a lightrail, the main issue is to make sure we get protection (triple paned windows, parking restrictions, noise-barriers, etc.) To anyone else out there, how do we protect ourselves from these issues??
