Plaskolite offers Scholarships to Neighborhood Youth

Plaskolite has established a Last Dollar Grant college scholars program with I KNOW I CAN. This Special Scholars Program represents Plaskolite’s commitment to the belief that all children deserve the opportunity to pursue higher education.

 

Plaskolite’s Special scholars program details

0                 Plaskolite will award two students each graduating year for five years with a Last Dollar Grant of $1,200 per year for 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 and will increase to $1,500 beginning in 2005-2006 to reflect I KNOW I CAN’s increased maximum grant (I KNOW I CAN’s Last Dollar Grant ranges from $100 to $1,200 per student per year)

0                 Recipients of Plaskolite’s Special Scholars Program will be selected each year by the Plaskolite Special Scholars Selection Committee, comprised of North Central Area Commission community leaders and Plaskolite

0                 Any student that receives a Last Dollar Grant in the first year will be eligible for support in subsequent years for a maximum of five years. The student must maintain 2.5 GPA

0                 Special Scholars are eligible for a summer internship at Plaskolite

0                 Plaskolite Special Scholars will receive a computer to use through college and after upon graduation

0                 Each year, Plaskolite will host a reception to congratulate the scholars

0                 I KNOW I CAN Last Dollar Grant recipients are required to contribute four community service hours each year

 

Eligibility Requirements (established by I KNOW I CAN)

0  Must be a graduate of the Columbus Public School District (CPS)

0  Must reside within the North Central Area (Boundaries= North: Hudson Street & Mock Road; South:
 I-670; East: Alum Creek at Sunbury & Nelson Roads; West: Conrail Tracks behind Bancroft Street)

0  CPS graduates in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 classes must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA, and graduates beginning with the 2005-2006 class must have a minimum 2.25

0  Must have demonstrated financial need, and have applied for federal, state and institutional aid, as well as a student loan (Deadlines begin as early as February of a student’s senior year)

0  Must submit a Last Dollar Grant application by July 1 each year

 

(See your school counselor to sign up for the I KNOW I CAN program. Parents, take this flyer with you to the school counselor to make sure your student gets involved in their Junior Year.)
