5th Annual Pancake Breakfast and Flea Market A Success!

The smell of pancakes and sausage and the site of more than 50 tables of house hold items, furniture, clothing, attracted hundreds of visitors to Marshall Park and the Hart Senior Center for the 5th Annual Area 1 NAG Pancake and Flea Market on Saturday, May 13, 2006.

The participating Area 1 neighborhoods and seniors from the Hart Senior Center were organized as ever this year. For most, this is their major fundraising event of the year and they all did themselves proud.

The East Sacramento Kiwanis Club once again provided the pancake breakfast that included pancakes, maple syrup, sausage, fruit cups, coffee and orange juice.

A special thanks is extended to Winn Park/Capital Avenue Neighborhood Association, East Sacramento Preservation Task Force, and Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary for coordinating the efforts of their organizations and to Marshall Park Neighborhood Association for providing an information table.

Clean-up was painless this year thanks to the Salvation Army who provided a special pick-up at the event for those that wanted to donate unsold items. We also need to acknowledge the great work of the staff and volunteers from the Hart Senior Center and the City of Sacramento Special Events crew.

Councilmember Steve Cohn, who was a sponsor of the event, paid a visit to the event and provided signed Certificates of Appreciation to the participating organizations and sponsors.

Thanks to everyone on the Area 1 NAG Events Committee for your individual contributions and tremendous support. Working together made this years event a great success.
