After the code-red request for evacuation, some neighbors remained to patrol the neighborhood and dikes. These residents were able to bail out one home, prevent a second from taking on water, and coordinate efforts with neighboring areas. We set up a dike patrol, a shop to thaw pumps and hoses (in house 1's garage) and a Flood Center (in house 2's heated garage) for meetings, collection of gas money, food, and a place to rest/warm up, etc. These home owners even have a refrigerator on which we hung our meeting notes, patrol schedule, neighborhood resources and phone numbers! We worked closely with "Fireman Dan" who was assigned to our zone. A snow storm hit after a crest of 40.82 feet. Although the cold weather slowed up the river and melt, the "wet" snow the prediction for the 2nd crest.
