snow job

One week after the first storm, my sister and I laughed (sarcastically) that a truck with a plow was FINALLY going through the lot -- just in time for the New Year's weekend snow to hit. That was the only sign I saw--and it wasn't plowing--it was spraying some sort of mixture throughout the lot.

As for snow shoveling, I witnessed three men shovel the little snow that had fallen after the guy in ''G'' (along with a couple of his friends) removed the majority of it from our walks following the Christmas blizzard-it was a couple days after the storm hit. I have seen absolutely no evidence of any shoveling being done by the ''snow removal'' company at any time since the first storm. If any shoveling has needed to be done, it was Al or me (and you).

If you guys are being billed for $15,000, it's nothing short of a ''snow job''--and that's why the guy is so complacent. There are other snow removal crews, I'm sure--ones that will actually show up after a storm...these guys ought to get back to their real jobs--probably taking up residence on some bar stool.

You're Kidding

A $15,000 bill!!!! You've got to be kidding me!!! During the first storm, they didn't come through our section with a plow until 5 full days after the storm ended. Three and my neighbors and I have done all the shoveling through all three storms -- we have kept our end of the culdesac clean of snow, not Alpine. When they would show up with shovels, they worked very slowly, actually having the nerve to go over the areas that we had already shoveled! I looked at one guy and said ''we don't need you, we've already done that (shoveled the sidewalks), we need someone out here with a blade.'' Another Alpine guy was taking snow off the sidewalk down from where I live and placing it on the red bricks. I walked up to him and asked him how he expected people to be able to step over that pile of snow he was making to get to their cars. Other Alpine shovelers placed all the snow between the cars -- alot of good that does. I had to ask a guy with a blade to move a wall of snow so that my neighbor in 2939A could get in and out of her parking space. That same neighbor had to ask another guy to clear the guest spot by her parking space to make it easier to navigate the parking spaces. Should we have to ask them to do their job? And when they would finally show up with a blade, they just plowed people into or out of their spaces. Need I go on?

My neighbors and I probably spent a total of 15 hours each shoveling. Tell them they need to pay us an hourly wage for doing their work.
Fire these people now because I think this outrageous bill is just an indication of future problems.

Unacceptable

I only witnessed the actual snow removal once. However, the ice removal (or lack of) has been the biggest problem. My husband, with some help from our neighbors, spent two hours with a spade and shovel breaking up the ice in the driveway to 2901 because it was doing extensive damage to cars. To me, this is unacceptable.

Vehicle damage

We have a car and an SUV. We didn't use the car for two weeks due to drive conditions and the possibility of extensive damage to the vehicle because of it. Our SUV even scraped on a large snow obstruction.

Agreed, we pay too much money for anything like what happened to happen. I feel we would have been better off not having any snow removal service. The residents would have come together and taken matters into their own hands.
