Hold your calender

The next meeting of the Alum Creek Dog Park Friends group will be May 10 at 6:30 pm at Panera Bread Community Room. This Panera is north of the intersection of Powell Road and Rt 23, in the shopping center in front of Home Depot.

In the News

The Ohio Legislature has put the proposed State Parks "Pride Pass" (parking fee) for the Ohio State Parks temporarily on hold.

An update from Denis Buehler

Fencing the 4 acres will take approximately $30,000 and an additional $10,000 will be needed for benches, signage, dog friendly water fountains, dog wash station, a bulletin board, and for making the site handicapped accessable. The anticipated need to equip the park is approximately $40,000. We are now considering opening the park in 2 phases, with Phase I construction to begin as soon as we raise $15,000. With this goal in mind, we need all interested volunteers to help with fundraising programs and events for the Alum Creek Dog Park. Currently there are almost 90 volunteers on the email list. If everyone on the list sold 10 engraved bricks, we would meet our first fundraising goal.

Donor Opportunites

Tracy Hedrick, our Marketing Commitee Chair, is currently putting together a list of opportunities for donors. If you know of an individual or a business that may be interested in making a substantial donation to the Dog Park, please contact Tracy at hedrickpr@aol.com.

Donations to date

We raised $225 with the holiday treat sale through the Heidis Homemade partnership.

Buy a Brick Fundraising Program

With this fundraising program we are selling engraved bricks for $35.00 each. This is a moderate price point considering that other area groups are selling bricks for $50 to $100. We are hoping with the lower price point that people will buy multiple bricks or buy bricks to celebrate a variety of special occasions. Consider buying a brick to celebrate your dog's adoption day or their birthday or their completion of obedience training. A PDF file of the order form is attached to this newsletter and can be printed as needed. We will be taking brick orders at the Pooch Parade. If you would like a packet of order forms please send a email to alumdogpark@earthlink.net

Site clean up day April 23 at the Dog Park site from 9 am to 2 pm

Yes, it is the same day as the Pooch Parade but the site clean up is part of an all park cleanup for Earth Day. Volunteers are needed to help at the dog park site. Bring work gloves, wear boots, and dress for the weather. Lunch will be provided! To get to the dog park turn off Old State Road onto Hollenback Road (go towards the Marina) you will first pass the boat storage area on the left side of the road. The next drive on the left will take you into the Dog Park site. If you get to the Marina you will have gone to far.
