SAY NO TO HISTORIC STATUS!!!

Posted in: Alamo Placita
Neighbors:

Folks, we have to act, and we have to act fast. After March 7th it will be too late.

The busybodies of the Alamo Placida Park Neighborhood association want to make life tougher for all of us.

With the passage of historic district status, we can expect:

?• Still higher taxes. If you think taxes are high now, just wait.

?• Less control over your own property. Do you want a few dimbulbs in the city government telling you what you can and can?’t do with your own property? Do you want potentially higher repair costs because some foolio in the neighborhood association doesn?’t like your ideas about new gutters?

?• No advantage in historic status This neighborhood is fine as it is and is on the upswing. We don?’t need special rules or meddling.

?• There will be more rules and more details that we?’ll have to deal with. Aren?’t there enough laws and rules already, without having to deal with more?

After passage of historic district status, what?’s next? Where will it stop? Will they want to control what color flowers you plant? Maybe they?’ll decide that they don?’t like your car. Or your dog.

We HAVE to fight this thing, and fight it hard! Call the Planning Commission at 640-4776 on Monday, and find out if your letter or fax can make a difference. Better yet, write them a letter this weekend if you can?’t be there on the 7th. The address is:

Denver Planning Office
Room 203
200 West 14th Avenue
Denver 80204

We have to stop this thing in its tracks. We can do it.

Another very concerned neighbor.
