(January 11, 2008) -- Al Austin has told LBReport.com [when we called seeking comment on an election development] that he WON'T be filing paperwork entering the 6th district City Council race, whose candidate filing period ends today (Jan. 11).

Mr. Austin, who finsihed second in a May 07 special election to succeed Laura Richardson in the Central LB Council seat, picked up the paperwork on Dec. 26. Today (Jan. 11) he told LBReport.com:

''After much consideration, I've decided against participating as a candidate for City Council in the next election. My decision was very personal and difficult. I do however intend on continuing to build my record of service by remaining involved and accessible to our community.''
