New and Expanded Recycling

Jan 16, 2001

The City of Dallas entered into a partnership with Community Waste Disposal, Inc. (CWD), to provide expanded residential blue bag recycling on October 2. The new program is for all homes with an active Dallas Water Utilities account.

Residents may use blue, translucent, plastic bags (13 gallons or larger), available at area retail and grocery stores, for set-out of the following expanded list of recyclable materials (rinsed and with lids removed; crushed as needed for space):
?· Plastic bottles (codes 1, 2, or 3)
?· Aluminum, steel/tin, and aerosol cans
?· Glass (clear, green and brown)

Residents may use brown paper bags for set-out of the following recyclable materials (but not on rainy days):
?· Newspapers (clean and dry) with inserts
?· Mixed paper (magazines, junk mail, home/office paper, but no hardcover or telephone books)
?· Chipboard (cereal boxes, but no corrugated cardboard)

For Abrams-Brookside, the recycling collection day is each Thursday. The recyclable material should be placed beside your roll cart each Thursday for pick up. To verify designated recycling collection day, call 3-1-1.
