WARNING FAKE EMAILS
By Heidi Harrison Chain

Whenever you receive an email asking you for your information- DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION! Do not be fooled if the email looks like it is coming from your bank, or your credit card company. Your rule must be to NEVER disclose your information in response to any emails. This is a principle way in which peoples?’ identities are being stolen.
The 112th precinct community council received a bogus email from someone pretending to be our bank and asking for our account information. Here is the exact email :

THIS IS TOTALLY A FRAUD.
If the council had an account at this bank, I would have contacted the bank to resolve the problem.
Please be sure that if you receive a similar email ?—
DO NOT RESPOND to the Email. .
If you do have an account at the bank, you might consider calling the bank and notifying them of the email.
During the same week that the precinct council received the bogus email from ?“Bank of America?” we also had the exact email from ?“ Wells Fargo Bank?”.
I mentioned this fraud to several people, and was told that they have also received similar emails from other ?“banks?” and also from credit card companies.
Please remember to NEVER give out your information when you receive an email .
Be Careful! Stay Safe!
