Dear Neighbor by Heidi Harrison Chain

Dear Neighbor:
We have a new Commanding Officer at the 112th Precinct, Captain Richard Napolitano. Please join with me in welcoming him to our community. I look forward to working with him and you so that we can help to better our community. I had the pleasure of meeting Captain Napolitano this past week. He is very nice, very professional and wants to work with us. He has a lot of relevant experience at precincts, is very smart and I think that we are fortunate that he has been assigned to our community. Please see inside the newsletter for his biography and plan to come to our March meeting to meet him.
Our guest speakers at the March meeting will be Frank P. Gulluscio, District Manager of CB6, Victoria Auriemmo, Assistant District Manager of CB6 and Joe Hennessy, the Chair of CB 6. Our meeting will provide a great opportunity for you to learn about the functions of the community board. We will have refreshments and have set aside some time for everyone to ?“meet and greet?”.
D.I. Philbin retired from the NYPD in February. He sent us a note - thanking the council board for our hard work and thanking the community for working with the precinct. He said that his time here was the highlight of his 21 year career with the NYPD.
In February, the council and HSBC BANK USA announced the winners of our eighth anti drug essay contest: Tarang Jain from P.S. 206, Karina Peraffan from PS220 and Lauren Lewndowski from Our Lady of Mercy School. We congratulate our winners. We presented them with Certificates and HSBC gave each winner a $100 bond at our meeting. The precinct council presented HSBC with a plaque to thank them for their co-sponsorship of our essay contest. The winning essays are in this newsletter.
During March, the precinct council arranged for the precinct to speak to the Parent Association at PS 101 regarding keeping our children safe. Their presentation was excellent and the information is very important.
We are in the process of setting a date for the next free DMV accident prevention course for this spring. By taking this course, you can :reduce your driver violation point total by a maximum of four points, and save a maximum of 10 percent on your automobile liability insurance premiums. The precinct council will pay for the course for our residents. We hope that you take advantage of this opportunity and enroll.
We are continuing to compile the database of apartment buildings. All apartment buildings should have a plan and should be aware of any disabled residents who may need help in the event of any emergency. If you live in a building?– please let us know the management company of your building and your building super?’s contact information.
BE CAREFUL! STAY SAFE! Very truly yours,
Heidi Harrison Chain
President
