On 1-28, we discussed neighborhood organization and safety. Marian Barrera-Young (youngbarrera@aol.com) talked about the need to make one's home safe and practical tips to accomplish a secure residence. She also talked about the many ways in which we can organize to achieve plowed streets, community cohesiveness, and community awareness.
Security:
If a neighborhood situation is too 'touchy' or dangerous to handle neighbor-to-neighbor, we can contact Marian Barrera at youngbarrera@aol.com. She will provide helpful and practical assistance to ameliorate any issue. All serious issues take time. She is diligent in responding to legitimate concerns, but an issue make take some time before it can be fully resolved.
Where should we meet if we have an emergency? In the event of a Hazmat problem, public saftey, catastrophic weather, etc.; we need to have a place that we can retreat to. Marian is working on establishing close proximity places for neighborhood communities. Stay tuned..
Putting your house # on the back of your house makes your house more visible for emergency responders in the event that the road to the front of your house is blocked off or unsafe to travel to.
There are many practical ways in which you can make your house more safe. burglaryprevention.org has some helpful tips on how to make your house more secure from breaking and entering.
One way to get assistance in security is to have Marian do a security analysis of your house. She is willing to do so for free. It is part of the service that her office provides.
