Neighborhood Link and Tesoro Announce Sponsorship Agreement

Tesoro is the first exclusive sponsor to sign agreement in San Antonio

DENVER, March 15, 1999 - Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com), the Internet-based community network that enables neighborhoods in participating metropolitan areas to create their own free, interactive Web sites today announced that it has signed its first San Antonio sponsorship agreement in a one-year exclusive deal with Tesoro Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: TSO), the second largest independent refining and marketing company in the western United States. Tesoro is sponsoring Neighborhood Link as a public service for its 35th anniversary in conjunction with the launch of its corporate Web site (www.tesoropetroleum.com) that will be unveiled in April.

“We are pleased to provide sponsorship of Neighborhood Link as a public service for the city of San Antonio, in commemoration of our 35th anniversary,” said Andrea L. Simpson, vice president of corporate relations for Tesoro. “Neighborhood Link has developed a one-of-a-kind civic resource for the San Antonio region from which we think all of our neighborhoods can really benefit.”

Neighborhood Link offers a unique corporate sponsorship opportunity through both grassroots marketing to every neighborhood in a given metro area and through allowing sponsors the chance to be able to proclaim themselves as underwriters of a cutting edge, civic communication vehicle. Neighborhood Link is limited to six category exclusive corporate sponsors in each city that are valid for one year. Neighborhood Link sponsors in other metro areas include: AT&T, Conoco, Les A. Pfenning/ReMax, Medved Auto Dealerships, Progressive Insurance and Village Homes.

“We are pleased that a major petroleum company like Tesoro has sponsored Neighborhood Link for San Antonio online neighborhoods,” said Ted Pinkowitz, CEO of Neighborhood Link. “We are excited to offer our extensive civic resources to this region and hope to add more local sponsors soon.”

Neighborhood Link becomes fully integrated into participating communities through community partnerships with local governments, neighborhood groups and community organizations such as public schools, police departments and community newspapers. Each neighborhood Web site provides useful information such as event and meeting schedules, important notices, the association’s newsletter, local school listings, connections to police departments, community newspapers, interactive maps, additional pages for special-interest groups, interactive discussion areas and much more.
