I am currently in the works of starting a neighborhood watch network here in the Riverbend neighborhood area. Recently, there have been a lot of problems around this area.. which is sad because I have lived in this same neighborhood all my life, all 32 years of it.. and up until the past year or two, there was never any issues with people speeding up and down the neighborhood streets, no issues with vandalism and just overall no issues at all, except for the occassional toilet-papered house. However, when my truck and my other neighbors vehicles got broke into in the years past.. people starting to speed up and down Riverbend Drive/Road.. people that drive around here of whom clearly don't belong around here and clearly are not here in the neighborhood to visit a friend or family member... its just flat out sad that this beautiful neighborhood is having those current issues. Which, again, is why I am starting a Neighborhood Watch program and or network so that the people of this neighborhood can help keep an eye on each others properties and just keep an open eye for suspicious activites in general and be able to report them to each other and keep them on record just in case that information is needed for future references.
I am thinking about starting a petition to get speed bumps installed on Riverbend Road/Drive as well as on South 96th; 97th and 98th streets, since all three of those streets merge into Riverbend Road/Drive.
If that doesn't work, then I will resort to other countermeasures such as getting the people that are
constantly speeding around the neighborhood on video, along with the tag number on the vehicles and
send that information over to the Fort Smith Police Department, Ft. Smith Mayor Sanders, and or possibly
the local Prosecuting Attorney here in Sebastian County.
I personally am completely fed up with some of the people that live around here, as they seem to think that
just because, myself or anyone else happens to drive by there house.. that myself or anyone else is
"harrassing" them. I find that quite sad that those certain neighbors are that full of themselves. In fact,
it is actually quite scary to think that someone could be that paranoid.
Anyhow, long story short.. if you live in the Riverbend neighborhood and you would like to help me grow
the 'Riverbend Neighborhood Watch Network', please, by all means.. feel free to contact me, Mike, at
479-459-9884 (pls leave voicemail if no answer - or send text message). Same applies if you happen
to see anything suspicious and would like to report it, either call the Fort Smith Police Department and or
call or text my phone with what happened as well as any identifying information you might have and yes,
you may remain completely anonymous.
Thanks
-Mike [Riverbend Neighborhood Watch Network]
