History

Vern is from Abbeville and I am an Air Force brat. We both graduated from Lander College (before it became a university) in the late 80's. We were married in 1988. Vern teaches middle and high school band. I hang around in the professional sector when I need a challenge.

Much of my concentration is on my children and helping them learn as much about this world as I can. I look for opportunities to tell them about different parts of the world I have been and things I have seen. I enjoy sharing my experiences with them.

Our family

Our first child, Trey, was born in late January of 1994 in Charleston. I called him my late Christmas present. Lauren was born in late April of 2001 and she was a surprise (as in I can't believe I'm doing this so late in the game!) early birthday present.

Trey enjoys playing ball and is an excellent baseball player and is into all of the normal things that kids like to do. He knows more folks in this neighborhood than I do!

Lauren is my charmer. She loves to dance and play dress-up but is well able to keep up with her big brother and will give him a run for his money, I'm sure.

Vern likes Clemson and I'm a die-hard Nebraska fan (Go Huskers!). We like going for long walks, which is where you will most often see us.

Coming to North Lake

We moved to North Lake in the Spring of 2000. It wasn't too long after that when I found out I was pregnant. It had been six years since I had a baby and I had nothing of the necessary baby things left. As a testament to the wonderful people in our neighborhood, I was asked by ladies I had hardly had time to get to know if they could have a baby shower for me. I was beyond words and have never forgotten their kindness. North Lake is truly a neighborhood and one which I am happy to be a part of!
