We own and operate A-1 Hawkeye Appliance. Rick is the first certified appliance technician in Iowa. Pat worked in the government and accounting field over 15 years, and now manages the business.

Primarily due to the lack of good parks in the area Pat began to think about starting a neighborhood association with the first meeting in April, 1999. From that need, the Merle Hay, Lower Beaver and Meredith Neighborhood Associations began. Pat's mother Emmy Wynn is also a member of the MHNA.

Rick spent his childhood on a farm near Carroll, Iowa, and graduated from the Universal Technical Institute in Omaha. Pats' family has lived in Des Moines since 1958 and in the Merle Hay Neighborhood since 1969 and she has lived in the same home since 1979. Pat has been President and Secretary of the ass'n. and Rick has served on the Board.
