MEET AND GREET
Welcome and Introductions:  in attendance:  Shawn Spanier, President; Dana Russell, Secretary; Anne Kilponen, Neighborhood Outreach Specialist and 7 neighbors. Vice President, Joe Genovese was out of town.
Meet and Greet: 
 
SAVE THE DATE:  OCTOBER  26TH is the “PORCH” at Melville and Ashby, 9 -1.
 
Those in attendance got noticed via email.
 
Discussed problems with the vacant homes and foreclosures.
 
Bill Birthisel was there from 1243 Barnard where he built a carport and now needs a variance.  This variance has been ongoing since April.  The Planning Commission has approved it but an earlier City Council Meeting has not.  It goes before the City Council again on September 18th.  An email went out to the neighborhood.
 
Variances being sent to the President, Shawn Spanier, and being forwarded to the neighbors via email.  Lois’ Newsletters now have variance information at the bottom as well.   Springs Preserve asking for a variance on their signage to be increased by 33% in size.  A private school near Planned Parenthood is asking for more parking spaces.
 
The Valley View (VV) widening project has created median hazards with obstructed views from the landscaping. The status of Cashman after being torn up and roughly patched.
 
Reviewed Crime Data which shows a downward trend in overall crime (handout).  Anne mentioned that the City of Las Vegas now has a new phone ‘App’ for documenting and reporting graffiti.  Dana has some on her back wall to be covered.
 
Readdressed the sidewalks in disrepair at 1200 Melville and on Barnard, south of Ashby.  Also, readdressed the changing out of the dim street light bulbs to brighter ones.
 
To check with Metro’s Bolden Area Command’s Neighborhood Prevention Specialist regarding the pan handlers and prostitutes coming in from the Downtown Area.
