Westleigh Neighborhood Association

Topics:

  • $ Slurry Update
  • $ Ward 1 Clean-up
  • $ Code Enforcement
  • $ City Traffic Engineer/RTC Update

Agenda

  • $ Welcome and Introductions. Present were Franklin Simpson, the Board President and Secretary and 12 attendees.
  • $ The official status of the "Slurry Update" will be at the October meeting. Comment from one of the attendees was why Utah contractors? and has video/pictures of the slurry process.
  • $ Ward 1 Clean-up is scheduled for Friday, October 24th. I mailer will be sent to all residents. Neighborhood Services will organize volunteers to help coordinate and regulate trash pick-up.
  • $ Code Enforcement had no specific updates. Several foreclosed properties have been bought. Need to inquire about a pool and why it wasn't it drained. Mosquito abatement had been there but still a drowning hazard.
  • $ Official "City Traffic Engineer Update" will be at the October meeting. Presented an overview of the RTC "Valley View Widening" Project and pictures from Sahara to Charleston. In summary, no properties are to be taken. Valley View will be 5 lanes wide, 3 North and 2 South with a landscaped median. No turning south out of Mt. View.

Other Business:

  • $ Attendee wanted to know why the appropriated funds to have wheelchair cut-outs at each intersection weren't completed. It was started 5 to 6 years ago at Cashman, working west. Where did the money go?
  • $ Additional questions on who is responsible for: blocked driveways, grocery cart pick-up, establishing/posting a street sweeper schedule, dead trees. . . .
  • $ Franklin Simpson proposed to us to get a couple of the "Adopt-a-Block" signs in the neighborhood with the "Westleigh" name on it. Franklin to get us a date for the December "Porch".
  • $ Attendee asked about initiating a feral cat round-up in the area of the home.
  • $ Historic Designation survey yet to start since City had an insurance clause issue in the contract that need to be resolved.
