The proposal to rezone the Casa Carmen property (SW corner 35th Ave/Glendale went before the Alhambra Village Planning Committee last night and was denied. The proposal is to change zoning from C-1 to C-2 to allow for an auto repair shop. The proposal now proceeds to the city Planning Commission. Their decision is normally ratified by the City Council. If the Planning Commission denies the zoning request, the property owner has the right to appeal, upon which the hearing would take place before the City Council. The Planning Commission hearing is scheduled for 3/8/06 at 7:00 pm in the Phoenix City Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson St.
