W Plaza, Knee Taken W/ Glendale

Posted in: W Plaza
Police were seen everywhere along with their helicopters, vans, patrol units, as the most massive, visible, criminal hunt witnessed in this area of the city in years came to pass as cars were halted and neighbors asked where they wanted to travel today. Why? Crime struck Glendale near West Plaza Park and our Neighorhood Community of Interest and we felt it hard Sunday 3-14-04, as did the Glendale PD. All banded together with a showing of care and concern that everyone can be proud of, as many witnessed, except those that are guilty and responsible, as we watched from our windows, the park fringes, our cars, and the sidewalks, and saw Glendale PD, with great assist from the Phx PD and all its other hard-working cooperative units, take on the task of caring for its fallen in their own way. Anyone in the valley with eyes or ears knew that one of our brave was struck as all took a knee and held their breath. Our thoughts and concerns go to the injured and family.

Residents of West Plaza Neighborhood Association Community of Interest should all be careful and mindful that crime is close at hand. This reminder that it struck in Glendale, just across our border, is so close that we all should again think of taking appropriate precautions and being mindful of strangers and reporting suspicious behavior to the police and appropriate authorities such as Crime Stop. While prompt action was taken today in the Glendale shooting and there may be a possible suspect apprehended, knowing that justice isn't final until a jury has cast its decision should keep us all aware that we could still have a danger in our midst. Keep that number for Crime Stop handy and don't forget to take appropriate precautions. Let's have that safety forum! Watch out for yourself, your families, and your neighbors. Be safe out there.

Let's all tonight remember the brave from Glendale, and may we all remember those that protect and watch over us and take a knee for any that have fallen in the line of duty. Tomorrow and in days that come let's cheer for those that rise from the field to take the streets for us yet another day, heros they are all.

Thank you to all that watch out for one another, whatever uniform you wear, if any, whatever race, whatever creed, for crime knows no borders and branishes no insignia, it comes in all forms like a plague on us all. And like a plague, we must all work together to stomp it out lest we be overcome.

Think smart. Education is the key.
Together we make a difference.
