I walk the premeter of Brook Wood daily for exercise.  The previous topic on the white discoloration on the fence was that it was the result of flourescense leching from the brick and that this was normal.  I am not an expert in the field, but my observation is that this is not flourescense leaching through the brick, but the result of dried mortar left over from a totally inadequate hydroblasting of this portion of the fense after the brick work was completed.  If you look at both the sections of fense to the North and South of this section, you see none of this "flourescense" leaching through the brick.  My normal travels often take me to the area West of Hwy 6 in the Sennia area.  The brick fenses in these areas have been in place for over 20 years.  On some fenses, there is leaching through the brick, but only through the bricks in the support columns that help hold the fense in place.  There is no leaching through the single brick fense in any area that I can see.  I am convinced that the white discoloration in the area between Village Corner Drive and the Green Belt is the result of an inadequate hydroblasting job with no follow-up by site supervisions to insure that the job was completed per the contract company standards.  Contractor management should be required to make a field inspection of the hydroblasting of this section and correct the problem or explain how in a short time of several months the flourescence leaching has occurred when it has not occured to the same extent in any section of the fense installed originally along Bay Area Blvd.

I am not sure exactly when it happened, but the section of fense I noted above has been cleaned and there is not longer an issue.  I am sure that the plans were in place before my post, but the follow-up crew did an excellent job.
