Update on the front entrance!

Update on the front entrance!

The Tropical Shores Neighborhood Partnership Grant award in the amount of $1,856.00 was tentatively approved by the City Council Public Safety, Service and Infrastructure Committee on November 29th. We are expecting final approval of the grant by the City Council in early January.

This money will purchase the plants and mulch in our landscape plan. Tropical Shores residents will match the funds with volunteer hours with the initial planting and ongoing maintenance of the area.

Following final approval, the next step in the grant process will be the contract signing. When all the paperwork is done and the grant is awarded, it will be time to set up volunteer schedules to begin the implementation of the landscaping of the front entrance.

With assistance from our public service rep and/or our neighborhood planner, we will begin the transformation that will make our front entrance a lush tropical welcome for all visitors and homeowners here.

Old SE also received the nod on their grant request so they will be planting trees along 3rd Street and 22nd Avenue. Tropical Shores and Old SE were supportive of each other in this grant request – thanks Old SE!

The city was extremely helpful in preparing this grant and we are grateful for their input and assistance!

Watch for more and get your garden gloves out and your shovels ready! It’s almost time to plant!!!!!!!!!
